AusCycling Downhill National Series at Mt Buller kicks off this weekend

The Australian Downhill Calendar kicks into gear this weekend down at MT Buller with Round 2 of AusCycling Downhill National Series, part of the Victorian Downhill Series.

There is some big hitters on the Start List including five-time downhill world champion Sam Hill!

According to Auscycling, Sam is one of 50+ riders entered, along with Round 1 winner at Illinbah Joshua Button and newly signed Giant Factory rider Luke Meier-Smith. One thing is for sure its going to be an epic battle!

In the elite women’s ranks Australian champion Ellie Smith and Australian world championship representatives Elise Empey and Cassie Voysey join 2019 Junior World Championship bronze medalist American Anna Newkirk.

As seems to be the norm across both Enduro & Downhill the biggest field of the weekend is in the Junior Men with over 77 riders.

According to Auscycling the track is packed with technical rock gardens, steep sections and now home to two road gaps!

the track was running very fast and could catch a lot of riders out if they aren’t on their game.

The last time a Downhill National Series race was held at the Alpine venue was in 2019.

The event will also be livestreamed on SBS on Sunday from 11am-4pm (AEST) here.
