Overview
Head for the Hills runs after school mountain bike skills programs for kids wanting to try mountain biking as well as those looking to develop their skills.
Lessons are designed for kids aged 10 to 14 and offered at various venues both north and south of the city, such as Cobbler Creek Recreation Park, Craigburn Farm Shared-Use Trails and O’Halloran Hill Recreation Park.
There are no pre-requisites for participants and the program is perfect for beginners, so long as they can ride confidently on two wheels.
The After School MTB Skills program runs for 18 weeks over the Summer (Term 4 & 1) and Winter (Term 2 & 3) seasons.
Sessions do not run during school holidays
The program focuses on the key skills of mountain biking and will develop the students:
Bike handling and balance

Technique (discipline independent)
Students will also learn about the non-practical aspects of mountain biking, including:
Trail etiquette for shared-use networks
Risk assessment and management skills
