We’re thrilled to continue our support of World Bicycle Relief, a remarkable organization dedicated to transforming lives through the power of bicycles. Their recently released 2023 Impact Report highlights the incredible strides made in providing marginalized rural populations with access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, all through the simple yet profound gift of a bicycle.

Looking ahead to 2024-2026, World Bicycle Relief aims to distribute an additional 300,000 bicycles, impacting the lives of 1,500,000 people worldwide. This evolved strategy, built on nearly two decades of experience and over 790,000 bicycles distributed across 23 countries, focuses on creating a holistic bicycle ecosystem. Prioritizing the needs of women, girls, youth, and marginalized communities, the strategy includes aspects such as bicycle design, supply chain management, community-driven programs, and the establishment of retail outlets.

One of the key elements of World Bicycle Relief’s approach is the sustainable impact it brings. Trained mechanics and access to spare parts ensure that the benefits of bicycle mobility are long-lasting and far-reaching, driving sustainable change in communities globally.

The 2023 Impact Report showcases the tangible effects of this approach, including dramatic improvements in educational attendance, significant reductions in travel time to school, empowerment of healthcare workers, and enhancement of livelihoods. These achievements underscore the transformative power of bicycles in breaking the cycle of poverty and opening doors to a brighter future.

Looking forward, World Bicycle Relief is excited to amplify its impact through a social enterprise model, emphasizing growth, partnership, and influence. With a clear vision to help people conquer distance, achieve independence, and thrive, World Bicycle Relief is committed to disrupting chronic, generational poverty in rural areas in a scalable and sustainable manner.

At The Start List, we are incredibly proud to support World Bicycle Relief in their mission to change lives through mobility.
